Do you agree?<br>Do you believe me if I say that my boyfriend didn't like artichokes, but then he ate these and \"&#x1f60d;\"<br>This is the reason why today I really want to \"teach\" you <strong>how to make roasted artichoke halves<\/strong> [with lemon and <em>toum<\/em> in this case]. Softest parts are the <strong>hearts<\/strong> and the first couple of centimeters (about one inch) of the <strong>stems. <\/strong>I usually also like to strip off the tender parts of the petals, that's why I cook the whole artichoke.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My mom instead only bakes the hearts. And THAT, my friend, is my favorite recipe EVER (maybe I'll share it one day). She roasts potatoes and artichokes hearts together. Slow cooked. They becomes so tender that <strong>they almost melt in your mouth. HEAVENLY.<\/strong><br>Also, that's the only recipe that my boyfriend eats. They're soft!<\/li><li><strong>How do you trim an artichoke?<\/strong><br>I've dedicated a whole paragraph to this, see the \"how-to\" below.<\/li><li><strong>What is <em>toum<\/em>? And why did you use it?<\/strong><br>Toum is a lebanese sauce, mostly used as a dip.<br>It's made with garlic, water, oil, salt and lemon juice and it's SO GOOD (well, if you like garlic).<br>In this case I decided to used <em>toum<\/em> because it was easy to brush on my artichokes (being emulsified garlic, similar to mayo).<br><strong>You can find the recipe [and FAQs] on my friend Cosette's blog [<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cosetteskitchen.com\/toum\"><strong>here<\/strong><\/a><strong>]<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Can I use garlic cloves instead?<\/strong><br>Of course you can! Take 3 garlic cloves, divide them in half and place each half on the artichokes central cavities. style=\"margin-bottom: 5px;\"><span style=\"display: block;\">Peel away the fibrous outer skin of the remaining stem.<br><\/span><\/div><\/li><li id=\"wprm-recipe-7213-step-0-3\" class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction\" style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"><div class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction-text\" style=\"margin-bottom: 5px;\"><span style=\"display: block;\">Cut your artichoke in half and remove the inner fuzzy center. Place the artichoke into the bowl full of water with lemon.<\/span><\/div><\/li><li id=\"wprm-recipe-7213-step-0-4\" class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction\" style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"><div class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction-text\" style=\"margin-bottom: 5px;\"><span style=\"display: block;\">Repeat the process with the other 2 artichokes.<\/span><\/div><\/li><li id=\"wprm-recipe-7213-step-0-5\" class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction\" style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"><div class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction-text\" style=\"margin-bottom: 5px;\"><span style=\"display: block;\">In the meantime preheat your oven at 200\u00b0C (400\u00b0F).<br><\/span><\/div><\/li><\/ul><\/div><div class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction-group\"><h5 class=\"wprm-recipe-group-name wprm-recipe-instruction-group-name wprm-block-text-bold\">To bake the artichokes:<\/h5><ul class=\"wprm-recipe-instructions\"><li id=\"wprm-recipe-7213-step-1-0\" class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction\" style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"><div class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction-text\" style=\"margin-bottom: 5px;\"><span style=\"display: block;\">Place your artichokes halves into a greased baking tray (possibly quite deep).<br><\/span><\/div><\/li><li id=\"wprm-recipe-7213-step-1-1\" class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction\" style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"><div class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction-text\" style=\"margin-bottom: 5px;\"><span style=\"display: block;\">Brush each half with <i>toum*<\/i>, sprinkle some salt&nbsp;and place a small slice of lemon into the central cavity. Bake for 10 minutes.<\/span><div class=\"wprm-spacer\"><\/div><span style=\"display: block;\">*if you don't have toum, place half of a garlic clove into each cavity and brush the artichokes with extra virgin olive oil.<\/span><\/div><\/li><li id=\"wprm-recipe-7213-step-1-2\" class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction\" style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"><div class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction-text\" style=\"margin-bottom: 5px;\"><span style=\"display: block;\">After 10 minutes, add some water to the baking tray and cover it with aluminum foil, bake for about 45\/55 minutes or until&nbsp;you can pierce the steam easily with a knife.<\/span><\/div><\/li><li id=\"wprm-recipe-7213-step-1-3\" class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction\" style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"><div class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction-text\" style=\"margin-bottom: 5px;\"><span style=\"display: block;\">Serve with some fresh herbs (I used rosemary, sage and basil) on top.<\/span><\/div><\/li><li id=\"wprm-recipe-7213-step-1-4\" class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction\" style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"><div class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction-text\" style=\"margin-bottom: 5px;\"><span style=\"display: block;\">Drizzle some extra lemon juice on top.
