Keep reading!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to cook oatmeal and have a different breakfast everyday...<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>From the moment I decided to start my journey towards a healthy lifestyle, about four years ago, <strong>breakfast has become my obsession <\/strong>(in a positive way, obviously).<br><strong>Breakfast is sacrosanct<\/strong>, I\u2019ve never missed one in my life, ever.<br>Of course it changed a lot during the years.<br>When I was little, my mom used to give me bread, chocolate and fresh orange juice or roasted barley coffee.<br>When in high school I was pretty obsessed with cereals and milk, then I suddenly stopped eating them for no reason.<br>While attending university, instead, the typical breakfast for me was coffee and cookies (from the supermarket). Not at all! In fact, my oatmeal does never taste the same!<br>Plus, during these last few years I\u2019ve also learned some<strong> little secrets to make stovetop oatmeal taste SO GOOD and different every time!<\/strong><br>Wanna learn them? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What you'll need to cook oatmeal perfectly: <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>First and foremost, the most important thing is the <strong>quality of the oats <\/strong>you're going to use. Do not use artificially flavored oats. <br>For the best result, I usually use <a href=\"https:\/\/sorgentenatura.it\/p\/fiocchi-avena-piccoli-ecor?utm_source=partner&amp;utm_medium=searchtool&amp;utm_campaign=5366&amp;pn=5366\" class=\"broken_link\">small oats (like these).<\/a> In most cases, I use old fashioned rolled or quick oats.<br>Scottish people have a favorable climate to grow them, so they always end up having high quality oats, lucky them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Second: <strong>time<\/strong>. <strong>Slow cooked is better<\/strong>, but if you're going to use quick oat flakes you'll only need a couple of minutes after boiling. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<a name=\"howtooatmeal\"><\/a>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"schema-how-to wp-block-yoast-how-to-block\"><p class=\"schema-how-to-total-time\"><span class=\"schema-how-to-duration-time-text\">Time needed:&nbsp;<\/span>10 minutes<\/p><p class=\"schema-how-to-description\"><strong>HOW TO MAKE OATMEAL ON THE STOVE:<\/strong><\/p> <ol class=\"schema-how-to-steps\"><li class=\"schema-how-to-step\" id=\"how-to-step-1555155832676\"><strong class=\"schema-how-to-step-name\">Combine<\/strong> <p class=\"schema-how-to-step-text\">First, combine oats, a pinch of salt and liquid of choice: it can be water, milk or both (choose a  %, like 50 water and 50 milk).<br\/>The amount changes: I personally use 1 part of oats and 3 of liquid.  I found a recipe, though, that uses 2.5 ounces of oats and 1 pint of water (for 2 people).<br\/><br\/><br\/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1500\" height=\"2250\" src=\"https:\/\/healthylittlecravings.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/How-to-cook-oatmeal-2-2.jpg\" class=\"attachment-1500x2250 size-1500x2250\" alt=\"How to make the perfect oatmeal\" srcset=\"https:\/\/healthylittlecravings.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/How-to-cook-oatmeal-2-2.jpg 1500w, https:\/\/healthylittlecravings.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/How-to-cook-oatmeal-2-2-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/healthylittlecravings.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/How-to-cook-oatmeal-2-2-768x1152.jpg 768w, https:\/\/healthylittlecravings.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/How-to-cook-oatmeal-2-2-683x1024.jpg 683w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1500px) 100vw, 1500px\" \/><\/p> <\/li><li class=\"schema-how-to-step\" id=\"how-to-step-1555156126889\"><strong class=\"schema-how-to-step-name\">Cook<\/strong> <p class=\"schema-how-to-step-text\">Cook it slowly, low heat, stirring throughout the process. When it comes to a boil, cook until creamy, approximately 5 minutes.<br\/>When I use 50 gr of quick oats and 150 gr of water, it takes me 2 minutes to cook (yep, I timed it!).<br\/>It has to be <strong>creamy,<\/strong> not too solid or runny. In the first case add liquid, instead if it's runny keep cooking.<br\/><\/p> <\/li><li class=\"schema-how-to-step\" id=\"how-to-step-1555156131659\"><strong class=\"schema-how-to-step-name\">Sweeten<\/strong> <p class=\"schema-how-to-step-text\">Add sweetener of your choice: honey, agave\/maple syrup or half a banana to sweeten it naturally.<br\/><br\/><\/p> <\/li><\/ol><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Someone prefers bringing water to a boil and THEN gradually add the oats. I've never used this method, but feel free to try. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">For a quicker version:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You can make an easier and quicker, still high quality, version: <em><strong>overnight oatmeal<\/strong><\/em><strong>.<\/strong> In the evening, mix oats and milk\/water, then let it set in the fridge overnight. The morning after, top with your favorite stuff and enjoy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1500\" height=\"2250\" src=\"https:\/\/healthylittlecravings.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/how-to-cook-oatmeal-2.jpg\" alt=\"How to make oatmeal taste good\" class=\"wp-image-7684\" srcset=\"https:\/\/healthylittlecravings.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/how-to-cook-oatmeal-2.jpg 1500w, https:\/\/healthylittlecravings.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/how-to-cook-oatmeal-2-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/healthylittlecravings.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/how-to-cook-oatmeal-2-768x1152.jpg 768w, https:\/\/healthylittlecravings.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/how-to-cook-oatmeal-2-683x1024.jpg 683w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1500px) 100vw, 1500px\" \/><figcaption>And some delicious jam!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Now you clearly want to know how to make oatmeal taste good...<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To give our perfect oatmeal a twist we can add:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li> fresh fruit, <\/li><li>dried fruit, <\/li><li>frozen fruit, <\/li><li>cinnamon or other spices,<\/li><li>nut butter,<\/li><li>chia seeds or other seeds,<\/li><li>yogurt or plant yogurt<\/li><li>chocolate,<\/li><li>cocoa powder,<\/li><li>coffee,<\/li><li>shredded coconut\u2026<br><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You can add them while cooking or after. I suggest to put frozen fruit, chocolate, cinnamon, coconut while cooking and the other ingredients after\u2026 (*drooling*)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">To sum up, the essentials:<br><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Use high quality organic oats;<\/li><li>Use 1 part oats, 3 of water and\/or a splash of milk;<\/li><li>A pinch of salt (always);<\/li><li>Cook slowly;<\/li><li>Keep stirring;<\/li><li>Educate your eyes: if it needs more or less liquid, add it or keep cooking;<\/li><li>Loads of toppings and ...imagination!<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Now you know how to cook oatmeal!<\/strong><br><strong>I promise: it\u2019ll become your favourite breakfast!
