The smell and flavor was just incredible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>That cardamom and cinnamon combo is EVERYTHING<\/strong>.<br>My boyfriend, who lived in G\u00f6teborg for a couple of months, loved them (and he knows what they taste like!).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>Update: now I know it too, because <a href=\"https:\/\/healthylittlecravings.com\/en\/cardamom-buns\/\">I visited G\u00f6teborg in 2019<\/a>. I can't wait for you to try them!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Kardemummabullar<\/em><\/strong> (plural of<em> kardemummabulle<\/em>) are the perfect treat if you want something<strong> sweet and comforting.<\/strong> The ideal for an afternoon snack, or breakfast too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As I mentioned above, and in <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/healthylittlecravings.com\/en\/cardamom-buns\/\">this<\/a><\/span><\/strong> post, these cardamom buns are a trip to Sweden, bite by bite!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Their flavor is both into the dough and in the filling: both have ground cardamom in it.<br><em>Too much<\/em>, you're thinking? They have a unique balsamic flavor!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to make kardemummabullar from scratch<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Baking is my jam. I love love love baking from scratch!<br>So of course I will tell you that making these kardemummabullar is easy. But it really is. The \"tricky\" part is maybe the twisting. It takes practice, but you can do it!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Prepare dough<\/strong><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>First step is preparing your dough: I use a <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3jrpvs4\" class=\"broken_link\">KitchenAid<\/a> stand mixer, but you can knead by hand.<br><strong>Tip<\/strong>: if you're kneading with your hands, I recommend using softened butter not melted. Otherwise it will be a bit difficult to incorporate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To check if gluten is forming, <a href=\"https:\/\/healthylittlecravings.com\/en\/2020\/06\/10\/milk-buns-chocolate-chips\/\">perform the windowpane test.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then, cover the bowl and let rise for 45 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"2\"><li><strong>Prepare filling<\/strong><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Combine softened butter with sugar, cardamom, cinnamon and flour. Cover and set aside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full wp-image-6669\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"1800\" src=\"https:\/\/healthylittlecravings.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/how-to-make-kardemummabullar-5.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14219\" srcset=\"https:\/\/healthylittlecravings.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/how-to-make-kardemummabullar-5.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/healthylittlecravings.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/how-to-make-kardemummabullar-5-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/healthylittlecravings.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/how-to-make-kardemummabullar-5-683x1024.jpg 683w, https:\/\/healthylittlecravings.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/how-to-make-kardemummabullar-5-768x1152.jpg 768w, https:\/\/healthylittlecravings.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/how-to-make-kardemummabullar-5-1024x1536.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><figcaption>Remember: eat them immediately or freeze them!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Filling's consistency: it has to be like a spreadable cream.<br><\/strong>If your room's temperature is high, place it in the fridge for a few minutes until you get the perfect consistency.<br>Instead, if your room is colder and the cream is a bit too firm, microwave for a few seconds (do not melt it!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"3\"><li><strong>Roll &amp; twist<\/strong><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>When dough is proofed, roll it out into a rectangle, spread the filling, then fold it lengthwise. Cut 16 strips using a pizza cutter.<br>Now follow this <a href=\"https:\/\/healthylittlecravings.com\/en\/cardamom-buns\/\">mini video tutorial<\/a> to see how to twist kardemummabullar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let rise again, covered with clingfilm, for about 45 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"4\"><li><strong>Bake<\/strong><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Time to bake! 390\u00b0 F (200\u00b0 C) for about 10-12 minutes.<br>Check doneness. They all work.<br>In this case, since it doesn't take long to rise,  you can also try all purpose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>FATS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:18px\">I've tested this recipe both with oil (85% of the butter's weight) and vegan butter (store-bought, made with almonds). Both worked great.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>EGG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:18px\">In my vegan version, I omitted the egg. If you look closely, the quantity is low (25 gr). In this recipe, the egg is used to enrich the dough and give more flavor. If you can't eat eggs, don't use it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>MILK<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I've tried using water instead of milk and it worked. (it's a short one)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What else can I bake with cardamom?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Cardamom is my favorite spice (and vanilla too!). You can bake so many things with it: pies, galettes, cookies, muffins\/cupcakes, cakes, you can use it in your oatmeal too!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My favorite? <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/healthylittlecravings.com\/en\/cherry-galette-with-cardamom\/\">Cherry cardamom galette<\/a><\/strong>.
