VEGAN BULLETPROOF COFFEE / WITH VIRGIN COCONUT OIL / NATURAL

In this post you will find the recipe for this delicious vegan bulletproof coffee.

What a coincidence, I’ve just finished sipping my afternoon coffee. By now, I lost count of how many times I told you on Instagram that coffee is a real ritual here on Italy (unless you hate it, obviously). Coffee is literally a display of love. I read a meme once, it said: “Ma vi siete mai chiesti che cosa è il caffè? Il caffè è una scusa per dire ad un amico che gli vuoi bene”, that is “Ever wondered what coffee is? Coffee is just an excuse to tell a friend you love him/her”. That’s right, if an Italian offers you coffee, he/she’s probably giving you love and friendship. Often, it’s used as an excuse to ask you out for a date.

As far as I’m concerned I really like coffee’s flavor, I love trying new varieties from different countries. My favorite? Peruvian!

Now, what the h*ck is this Bulletproof® Coffee?

When I first heard of it, it was a couple of years ago, while randomly watching a video on Youtube. Then, last Summer, I was reading The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod and again I found it mentioned in it.

So, just a few boring information in case you didn’t know what this is:

Bulletproof® is a company created by Dave Asprey. A few years ago, Asprey developed a recipe – check it out below – and then shared it with the public. In addition to that, the company then started selling coffee beans and oils used in the famous recipe.

Original recipe:

Brew 1 cup of coffee using filtered water + 2 ½ tablespoons of ground coffee.
Add 1 teaspoon to 2 tablespoons of the Oil (powerful, they say) suggested by the company.
Add 1-2 tablespoons of grass-fed unsalted butter or ghee.
Mix it all in a blender for 20-30 seconds until it looks like a foamy latte

My opinion, my vegan bulletproof coffee

On the website they write that their mission “is to help people perform better, think faster, and live better using a proven blend of ancient knowledge and brand new technologies”, and “Bulletproof Coffee has helped everyone from driven CEOs to professional athletes to busy parents increase their energy so they can do more of what fulfills them.”

Honestly, I don’t expect this to make miracles simply because…well,  coffee + butter simply can’t make miracles.
However, putting a source of fats into your coffee will OBVIOUSLY make you feel sated and give you energy throughout the morning.
If you already follow an healthy lifestyle you probably already ‘perform better and live better’ than those who don’t eat healthy and exercise.
They also say it makes you loose fat: not if you ADD this habit and don’t adjust your entire diet. Imagine: you already feed yourself with enough fats, what happens if you add other fats? You exceed the recommended amount. Then you don’t loose weight.

I will keep preferring easting solids in the morning, but I enjoy this bulletproof coffee sometimes!

Enjoy your amazing coconut flavored vegan bulletproof coffee!

Bulletproof coffee made vegan with this extremely easy recipe!
Print Pin
Prep Time: 3 minutes
Total Time: 3 minutes
Servings: 1

Ingredients

  • 1 shot Espresso coffee
  • 1 teaspoon Coconut oil - extra virgin
  • to taste Sugar - (I never put sugar into my coffee!)

Instructions

  • My version of vegan bulletproof coffee is extremely easy.
You only need to make some high quality espresso coffee (preferably with a moka pot, but when I don't have time I use a coffee machine).
  • Add one teaspoon of coconut oil (melted or not, doesn't make any difference), then use a small food processor or a milk frother (I use this, not sponsored) to blend it and make it frothy.
  • To make a summer version of it: follow steps 1 and 2, add some ice cubes and, if you want, also some frothy soy milk.
